Disconnect any unauthorized apps from your Facebook account.
There are many apps connected to our accounts, our suggestion is for you to disconnect any apps you do not recognize when your account gets hacked.
To do this follow the steps below:
- Click your profile picture in the top right of Facebook.
- Select Settings & Privacy, then click Settings.
- Click Apps and Websites in the left side menu.
- Go to the app or game you want to remove, then next to the name of the app or game, click Remove.
If you are not sure if you've been hacked you can always check the Ad account roles or the Business Page Roles, if you see any Facebook profiles that shouldn't be there you need to report or remove them from the account.
To know how to check on this see Facebook's tutorial.
Here are some tips for you to keep your account secured.
A. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Set up two-factor authentication for an extra layer of security. This way, even if someone has your password, they won't be able to access your account without the secondary verification code.
B. Keep your security information up to date
Update your security questions, contact email, and phone number associated with your account. Make sure this information is accurate and up to date.
C. Do privacy check-ups:
You can review your privacy settings by clicking here, make sure to select the 'How to keep your account secure' option.
D. Review Account Activity.
Look through your recent account activity to spot any unauthorized changes or suspicious ads that might have been placed. Document this information for future reference.
E. Verify any email claiming to be Facebook.
If you ever get an email claiming to be from Facebook, you can review recent emails sent from Facebook under your Login Settings.
